Logistics Manager
JOB SUMMARY:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBITIES:
- Provide overall leadership and ownership to continuously improve the transportation/logistics function throughout all USALCO plants.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the transportation function including employee supervision, logistics, DOT regulatory compliance, legal and economical operation and training. Key items:
- Provide dispatch/customer service leadership on all shipments for all modes Air, LTL, Rail, Tank Truck, Transloading, TL/Intermodal, and Ocean originating out of all USALCO plant locations.
- Help lead transformation of the Logistics/Transportation department and to implement new network optimization modelling throughout the company.
- Negotiation of rates with carriers
- Ensure all shipping related documents are correct and transmitted to the customer accordingly.
- Ensure all orders are posted and file shipment documents per procedure.
- Maintain accurate customer information in the various USALCO databases and software programs.
- Key go to person for transportation related issues and must have good problem solving skills.
- Work with Outside 3 PL and 4 PL providers to make sure that they are performing to our standards and expectations. Work with them on forecasting and load expectations.
- Increase quality, profitability, efficiency and productivity by continuously improving technology, personnel training and process improvement.
- Seek out cost savings through continuous improvement activities.
- Strive to consistently meet/exceed our customer service standards by ensuring prompt and accurate completion of service requests and by researching and resolving service issues and implementing long term solutions.
- Communicate and enforce facility safety, environmental compliance and DOT regulatory requirements.
- Will be primary backup of Fleet Manager and must have a good understanding of fleet management.
- Must understand the employee roles and be prepared to “step-in” and perform their duties during vacations and holidays.
- Must be able to work overtime, off shift and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Requires organizational and planning skills to effectively complete assignments.
- Must be dependable, flexible and able to respond on short notice to satisfy requirements of customers.
- Requires good interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to clearly and succinctly communicate with others, both verbally and in written form
- Possess Logistics Business acumen
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain management with 3-5-years’ experience including the supervision of employees or Business Degree with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- 20 plus years of progressive Logistics experience working in all modes of transportation including driving, dispatch and management will be considered without the required degree.
EXPERIENCE
- Bulk Delivery with at least 3-5 years in Hazardous Material Transportation
- Prior Experience with Electronic logs required
- Experience with continuous improvement tools including Lean, 5S, Six Sigma preferred.
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Experience with Aptean/Ross, PaperSave, Great Plains, MP2 and OmniTracs, and Samsara preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Ability to:
- Routinely travel to other USALCO plants
- Be flexible with work hours to meet demands of transportation.
- Travel will be 20-25 percent per year.
