<p>Sodium aluminate and alum are also used in producing alumina automotive washcoat catalysts.</p>

<p>USALCO offers excellent technical consultation and bulk chemical solutions for <a href="http://usalco.com/applications/phosphorous-removal">phosphorous removal</a>  in wastewater treatment. Nutrients including phosphorous come from fertilizer, detergents, and animal waste to name a few contributors. Excess nutrient loading causes <a href="http://usalco.com/applications/wastewater-treatment">wastewater treatment </a>plants to remove these chemicals. Biological nutrient removal is one method.  Chemical removal is another.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://usalco.com/products/alum">Alum</a> and ferric chloride are used as coagulants in municipal drinking water plants. Alum is the dominant water treatment coagulant used in USALCO’s shipping area. Alum has the following benefits over ferric chloride:</p>
<ul>
<li>Produces less sludge.</li>
<li>Less corrosive.</li>
<li>More Consistent. Ferric chloride is produced from a by product of steel production has many impurities including mercury.</li>
<li>Cleaner.</li>
</ul>
<p><a href="http://usalco.com/products/alum">Alum</a>, <a href="http://usalco.com/products/liquid-sodium-aluminate">sodium aluminate</a>, and ferric chloride are all used for <a href="http://usalco.com/applications/phosphorous-removal">phosphorous removal </a>in <a href="http://usalco.com/applications/wastewater-treatment">wastewater treatment </a>plants. Sodium Aluminate is the most cost method for the removal of phosphorous from wastewater. It has other benefits including not blinding sensors critical to UV treatment.
