USALCO delivers Aluminum Sulfate, Alumer-Alum Polymer Blend, Acid Alum, and Sodium Aluminate to municipalities and industry for treatment of potable and plant process water. USALCO provides these high quality essential chemicals at low cost. We supply the products from multiple manufacturing plants in bulk quantities, with dedicated transportation equipment to insure quality. USALCO offers free technical audits, jar testing and trials to optimize chemical dosages and to help your plant stay in compliance.
Clean water production can be expensive and play havoc with municipal budgets. EPA regulations require that public water supplies be tested for nearly 100 contaminants. All states have similar clean water requirements.
Our water treatment chemicals, Aluminum Sulfate and Alumer, can handle many water quality and operational issues, including the following:
- Turbidity: Reduction of turbidity by separating suspended and settleable solids, which is a term used to describe both organic and inorganic particulate matter in water. Details on the EPA and state turbidity requirements can be found in, What Are Water Quality Standards? Water Quality Criteria.
- TOC Reduction and DBP Precursor Control: Reduction of raw water TOC (Total Organic Carbon) levels through enhanced coagulation positively impacts Disinfection By Product (DBP) generation, which can aid in Stage 2 DBP rule compliance. DBPs are produced when organic materials in the water react with disinfection chemicals used in water treatment, such as chlorine.
- Sludge Reduction: Ever increasing sludge processing and disposal costs can be significantly offset by utilizing USALCO coagulants. Alum and Alumer contribute on average 60% less sludge than iron based coagulants.
- Lead Copper Rule (LCR) compliance- Aluminum Sulfate has been proven to maintain and or reduce the chloride to sulfate mass ratio(CSMR), a key indicator of lead –copper galvanic corrosion in potable water distribution systems. In contrast, chloride based coagulants like ferric chloride and polyaluminum chloride (PACL) increase the CMSR resulting in accelerated corrosion rates and subsequent lead leaching. Further information and data can be found in “Chloride-to-sulfate mass ratio: Practical studies in galvanic corrosion of lead solder”, Caroline K. Nguyen, Kendall R. Stone, and Marc A. Edwards; 2011 American Water Works Association.
USALCO chemicals are extremely effective in the coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation of raw water. Our well-known and proven chemicals have a long history of being considered safe for drinking water. USALCO products often purchased by water treatment plants include:
- Alum (Aluminum sulfate)
- Alumer-Alum Polymer Blends
- Acid Alum
- Sodium Aluminate-used for cold lime softening
We offer consistent performance, value, and economy when compared to proprietary coagulants on the market for potable and process water treatment.
